How To Find Raincliffe Woods & Forge Valley Woods
There are several car parks along Low Road giving easy access to the woods. Likewise in Forge Valley.
Please drive with care and be aware that Mobile Signal can be, at the best patchy and at the worst, non existent in the woods

Public transport:
The No's 13/15/115 or the 93 Whitby bus from Scarborough will drop you at Lady Ediths/Scalby Road (A171) (next stop past hospital) from where there is a pleasant walk (0.7ml) to Throxenby Mere along Lady Ediths Drive. Please note that once past Raincliffe School some road walking may be nescesary.
Alternatively you can leave the No 13 bus at the Moor Lane bus stop near St Catherine’s Hospice and follow the public right of way (0.5ml) over fields behind the hospice. This path exits onto Lady Ediths Drive at the side of Throxenby Mere. (Take care as you will exit almost directly onto the road)
How to find Raincliffe & Forge Valley Woods by Car:
From Scarborough follow A171 signposted Whitby.
After Scarborough Hospital turn left into Lady Ediths Drive and follow the road.
After 0.7 mile sharp and narrow right hand bend (take care) . You will see Throxenby Mere on your left with Raincliffe Woods stretching out beyond it.
For Forge Valley continue along the narrow and twisty road for approx 2 mile. Please drive with caution as walkers, cyclists and horse riders use this road. There is no footpath,
When you reach the Mowthorpe Road junction TURN LEFT into Forge Valley.
If travelling from North(Whitby) follow A171 toward Scarborough. Watch out for signpost to Raincliffe Woods & Forge Valley. Turn Right into Lady Ediths Drive then follow as above.
Travelling from Pickering along A170 on entering West Ayton cross the bridge into East Ayton then watch for the Forge Valley sign on your left.
Follow the narrow road into the valley. There are several car parks along the length of the valley. With a footbridge from Old Mans Mouth Car Park giving access to the far bank. Paths from the car parks on the right will lead up into Raincliffe Woods.
For Raincliffe Woods car Parks drive through Forge Valley to the junction and turn right on a narrow bend. This is Low Road with plenty of car parks along the way.
